Can a television be mounted on drywall?

The drywall surface alone is not assumed to carry the load. The mounting plan must use suitable framing or a manufacturer-approved anchoring method for the verified wall construction and load.

Can you hide the TV power cord inside the wall?

A standard appliance cord should not simply be placed inside a wall. Concealed power requires a listed solution and may require a licensed electrician depending on the work.

Should I buy the mount before the appointment?

You may, but send the TV model and mount model first so weight rating, VESA compatibility, extension, and hardware can be reviewed.
